Natural creams against eczema

What is eczema?

Eczema is an inflammation of the epidermis characterized by dryness, itching and redness on the surface of the skin. The itching is difficult to control and leads to a need to scratch. Unfortunately, by scratching it is possible for bacteria or viruses to penetrate under the skin. And in this case, the itch will increase. This is where hydration plays a vital role in relieving pain and treating dry skin. It is also essential toadopt the right actions daily to relieve eczema.

How to treat eczema and itching?

It can be treated using two methods: either internal treatment, or local and external treatment: cream, ointment (subject of this article). It is essential to relieve the skin symptoms of eczema by applying a cream. For effective treatment of eczema, the primary goal is to calm the inflammation and itching. Finally, you must hydrate and restore the skin barrier. This will help reduce scales, redness and plaques on the skin.

A moisturizing and nourishing action

The vegetable oils of Carapa procera, Apricot kernel and Marula as well as Shea butter provide dry skin with rich hydration, essential for relieving skin suffering from eczema. You will appreciate the Pso Natura Rich Cream because it penetrates the skin well, leaving it satiny and non-greasy.

An emollient and restorative action

Our moisturizing cream helps repair and restructure the skin thanks to Carapa Procera oil and Geranium essential oil. For enhanced action, we suggest using the Rich Restructuring Cream in combination with the Pso Natura Foaming Complex formulated at 60% based on Carapa Procera oil.

Pso Natura Rich Cream is a cream prescribed without a prescription since it contains natural ingredients. It is guaranteed to be free of paraben, silicone, PEG, propylene glycol, EDTA, perfume or synthetic coloring. This cream does not cause side effects or addiction effects and therefore allows eczema to be treated naturally. It is also compatible with solar exposure.

Anti-eczema topical corticosteroid creams: watch out for side effects

To soothe eczema attacks, the first reaction of dermatologists is to prescribe local treatments based on topical corticosteroids. Used since the 50s, topical corticosteroids are medications used to treat various skin diseases. They come in the form of cortisone-based creams, lotions or ointments. There are several different intensities of local corticosteroid treatment.

These treatments for eczema are known to act quickly. They have anti-inflammatory properties that reduce redness, swelling, oozing and the thickness of eczema patches.

However, cortisone creams are medications for which the instructions for use must be scrupulously followed. Local cortisone treatments stop gradually once the inflammation is over (one treatment generally lasts 7 to 15 days maximum). Be careful, abruptly stopping treatment can lead to a rebound effect and an increase in symptoms.

If used incorrectly (overdose) or used for too long, corticosteroid creams can cause side effects. We may notice a thinning of the skin, stretch marks, skin pigmentation disorders, the appearance of vessels, difficulty healing and sometimes even pimples. In addition, corticosteroid creams for eczema are not compatible with sun exposure; they should preferably be used in the evening.

Cortisone creams are therefore not a solution for treating eczema in the long term. They only calm inflammation but do not act on hydration and repair of the skin. A moisturizer should be used in parallel.

Eczema moisturizing-emollient creams: important but not sufficient

Which eczema cream?

Why an exema cream?Skin that suffers from eczema is dry because it has difficulty retaining water in the body. It is also damaged by the after-effects of inflammation.

An emollient moisturizing cream will therefore help restore the skin barrier of eczematous skin. It will act to restore the lipids between the cells and above all retain water in the skin. It will leave skin more supple and smooth. The skin barrier will be strengthened and will thus better protect against irritating agents, preventing future eczema flare-ups.

There are different moisturizers for eczema mentioned in a previous blog article: 5 Moisturizers for Eczema.

Why choose a natural cream to treat eczema and itching?

Corticosteroid creams alone are not enough to meet the needs of skin suffering from eczema. They cannot be used long term because they risk causing side effects.

To choose an effective eczema cream, it must be anti-inflammatory, moisturizing/nourishing, emollient and restorative. We also advise you to choose creams without allergens and chemical ingredients so as not to cause over-inflammation or inflammation.allergies.

It is therefore preferable to choose natural solutions such as Pso Natura Rich Cream from LM Natura laboratories.

You can also use natural remedies directly like Aloe Vera gel to soothe the itching of adult eczema or like shea butter.

The different types of eczema

Atopic eczema

Atopic eczema or atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory and non-contagious skin disease. Its origin is genetic, it often develops in families who suffer from respiratory allergies, hay fever and asthma. Immunological and cutaneous abnormalities create an abnormal skin barrier (with structural defects) in patients suffering from atopic eczema.

The skin therefore poorly fulfills its protective function. Thus, volatile allergenic substances from the environment (mites, pollen, dust, animal hair) easily penetrate the poorly protected epidermis. They come into contact with the skin's immune defense cells, causing an inappropriate inflammatory reaction.

This explains the different symptoms of eczema: red patches, burning and itching, blisters, crusts, scales and skin dryness. Symptoms are often concentrated at of the face, behind the elbows and knees and it is also possible to get it on the hands, feet, armpits and other parts of the body.

It should be noted that atopic eczema is a very common disease in children and infants.

Contact eczema or atopic dermatitis is a local allergic reaction of the skin to allergenic elements. The allergy is often developed through repeated contact with irritating chemical ingredients contained in laundry detergent, skin care and cosmetics, and synthetic fibers in clothing. Contact eczema generally affects adults.

Why does eczema itch and scratch the skin?

Eczematous skin has a poor skin barrier which:
– lets in irritants, the skin is therefore inflamed
– but also lets out too much water compared to normal skin, the skin is therefore dry.
These two factors are the cause of itching and tightness of the skin during eczema flare-ups.

Tips to fight eczema and itching

It is important to know how to treat this chronic disease. In addition to using an anti-eczema cream, it is necessary to limit irritation in your daily life as much as possible.

  • To do this, favor the use of natural cosmetic products (make-up, cleansing products, creams) which do not contain chemical ingredients.
  • Also be careful with laundry detergent, choose a natural detergent and do not use fabric softener.
  • Opt for cotton clothing rather than synthetic fibers or wool which could cause itching.
  • Do not take showers that are too hot as this could damage your skin.
  • Finally, it is important to have a balanced diet and to eliminate stress by practicing a sporting activity or relaxation.
  • Avoid sunburn.
Do not hesitate to consult a dermatologist.
