Skin health, detox treatment after the holidays

express detox cure

Liver attack, disturbed digestive system, hangover…. The aftermath of New Year's Eve and holidays are sometimes difficult. Fatigue accumulates and imperfections and excess sebum appear. Don't panic, to prevent fatigue, our detox and zen capsules are there ! And in this article we give you all the good tips to help you put your body in order and get back on your feet quickly (Except for hangovers, in this case, be patient!).

Detox: info or intox?

Detox here, detox there, we currently swear by detox to purge our body. Except that this is when two schools clash: those who believe in the accumulation of toxins during the holiday season and those who claim the opposite.

According to Dr Laurence Plumey (1), nutritionist, we do not produce toxins when we eat a lot. Lipogenesis is produced when we eat too much fat or too much sugar.

Fatigue after the holidays is therefore due to all the things good for health that we forgot to eat during this period, namely antioxidants, good minerals and trace elements. However, antioxidants have the role of stopping or minimizing the oxidation of cells and the production of sebum on oily skin and therefore fight against facial imperfections. See our article on the triggers of psoriasis.

Trace elements act on healing (2). So, without talking about eliminating toxins or detoxifying, it is important to put the body at rest and give your organs involved in digestion elements that they can more easily transform, eliminate and/or store.

body detox with fruitsDetox for the skin: what to eat after the holidays to avoid breakouts?

The holidays often rhyme with excess: champagne, foie gras, chocolates, and all the fat you want! We tend to starve ourselves after the holidays and go on a “diet” in order to eliminate these excesses. But be careful, the more the body is subjected to extremes and stress, the greater the “yoyo” effect. The brain activates “alert” mode for fear of missing out and weight gain is inevitable since it will store the most easily assimilated elements such as bad fats and sugars.

Tips

It is better to favor a smooth transition by gradually removing Food banned after the holidays and also gradually integrating more dietary foods. Goodbye alcohol, refined sugars, fats, cold meats and cheese. Replace these festive foods with whole fruits and lean vegetables, meats or fish. The cooking method is obviously important. We take advantage of this less rich period to banish cooking oils and butters a little and we favor steaming or grilling. We also reduce the salt and take advantage of the flavors of the spices.

The foundations have been laid, all that remains is to return to good eating habits and eat a varied and balanced diet. Here are some ideas to put your body at rest, without depriving yourself!

Breakfast: being detoxified in case of psoriasisbreakfast detox cure

Why not swap the brioche for wholemeal bread and the jam for almond puree or peanut butter?

Choose a fruit concentrated in vitamin C. Stop the preconceived idea that grapefruit is THE fruit to boost your vitamin C, guava, papaya and kiwi contain more. We also abandon juices (even pressed) which are devoid of any benefits.

Lunch

Vegetables, lots of vegetables! And to avoid the 4-hour hunger pang that could make you snack, add a portion of cereals or legumes.

For proteins, either we adopt the vegetables-legumes-cereals combo, a plant-based protein intake, or we add white meat, an omelette or fish. We recommend our article on the benefits of cabbage.

For dessert, we limit the intake of refined sugars as much as possible. We eat fruit, dried fruit or soy milk yogurt. For those with a sweet tooth, choose a bowl of unsweetened granola with almond or rice milk (delicious!).

A detox dinner to relieve psoriasis

A soup accompanied by rice vermicelli or vegetables like minestrone or pistou, or multi-cereal toast with vegetable caviar (eggplant, tapenade, etc.)

And we finish for those who wish it with a sweet note: a fruit, like prune, or a square of dark chocolate (and we only eat one!)

Improving digestive functions contributes to skin protection

Have you ever heard of “emunctories”? This word designates all of the purification organs of our body. Among them we find the liver, intestines and kidneys. These different organs all have an important function allowing the improvement of digestive functions. Discover with us tips to promote their proper functioning. We think of plants, whole fruits and vegetables which can be ingested in herbal teas (see our article on linden), in juice, raw, in soups or in dishes and which will allow our organs to regain strength!

The liver: detox and psoriasis

Plants that will be used to stimulate the production of bile by the liver are called “cholagogues”. They include milk thistle, artichoke, chrysanthemum, dandelion, black radish, turmeric, nettle and neem.

The intestines

For good transit and intestines that eliminate correctly, we rely on fiber. Almost all fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber. More particularly prunes thanks to their nutritional values, beetroot, leeks, blueberries. There is also wheat and oat bran, chocolate and certain spices such as cinnamon or curry.

Certain plants will also contribute to the proper functioning of the intestine: Aloe Vera, parsley, flax and even dandelion.

Lemon water helps flush out toxins

Water will be the best way to help the kidneys evacuate waste. During the holidays, we tend to increase alcohol consumption to the detriment of water. So remember to hydrate yourself by drinking at least 1,5 liters of water per day and why not a few cups of tea or coffee but no more than five per day. Waters with the fewest minerals will be best for this. You will spot them thanks to the mention “dry residue at 180°”, the figure must be less than 100: Rosée de la Reine, Abatilles, Mont-Roucous, Carrefour Auvergne…

Plants like meadowsweet, parsley, birch bark, dandelion, triphala have a mild diuretic effect. Just like the following foods: fennel, asparagus, garlic, beetroot, celery, cucumber…

Drainage: food supplements for psoriasis detox

Alongside a dietary rebalancing, we will facilitate drainage. Our Detox & Zen capsules, composed of 100% natural plants and trace elements, have been developed to improve digestive functions and stimulate the body. Black radish, turmeric, artichoke, there are many very effective plants and spices for good digestive function. Regenerated from the inside, the capsules contribute to skin protection. A helping hand so that things go a little faster and are easier to get back to cruising speed outside of the holidays. Thus these food supplements will be a real ally in cases of psoriasis or other topical illness to prevent the occurrence of flare-ups.

An ideal diet to combat psoriasis?

Psoriasis, an inflammatory skin disease, can be influenced by different diets. Although research is ongoing and answers vary from person to person, some diets have shown promise in helping manage symptoms.

1. Mediterranean diet

This diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish and olive oil. The high presence of antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids in the Mediterranean diet may help reduce inflammation and improve psoriasis symptoms. Studies have highlighted that following a Mediterranean diet could be beneficial for people suffering from psoriasis.

2. Anti-inflammatory diet

An anti-inflammatory diet aims to reduce inflammation in the body, which can be beneficial for psoriasis. This diet includes high consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins like fish rich in omega-3, and limits processed foods, added sugars, and saturated fats.

3. Gluten-free diet

Some people with psoriasis report improvement in symptoms after eliminating gluten from their diet. Although the scientific evidence is inconclusive, it may be helpful to try a gluten-free diet under medical supervision if you suspect gluten sensitivity or related celiac disease.

4. Diet rich in probiotics

As mentioned previously, improving gut health through a diet rich in probiotics can benefit people with psoriasis. Fermented foods like plain yogurt, kefir, kimchi, and kombucha are excellent sources of probiotics. They help restore the balance of intestinal flora and can reduce systemic inflammation.

Conclusion

There is no one-size-fits-all diet for psoriasis, as the response to a diet can vary greatly from person to person. However, opting for a balanced diet rich in anti-inflammatory nutrients and low in processed foods can help manage symptoms. It is important to consult a healthcare professional or nutritionist before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you have underlying medical conditions.
